Night Carp Fishing in Tarn-et-Garonne

Tarn-et-Garonne, an hour north of Toulouse, is one of the most open departments in south-west France for night carp fishing. The prefectoral order in force allows night fishing on the entire departmental course of the Tarn and the Garonne, including the bypassed Garonne section between Malause and Donzac, excluding fifty metres above and below weirs and dams. The Garonne canal offers three venues, one of them a 23 km stretch from Bessens to Pompignan, and the Montech canal two sections between Montech and Montauban. On the Aveyron, four venues are open at Cayrac, Bioule, Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val and Laguépie. Around fifteen public lakes and gravel pits are also designated: Juliasse and Fourrières-Hautes near Castelsarrasin and Grisolles, Les Saulous at Saint-Porquier, Bergon and Lasparrières at Lamagistère, Combecave and Le Boulet at Saint-Sardos, Beaumont-de-Lomagne, Saint-Beauzeil and the Vallée des Loisirs at Lafrançaise. Some open on recurring windows: Malivert, Parisot and Bois des Allègres close in summer, Les Chênes at Montaigu-de-Quercy is June to September only, Lasparrières May to December. One rule applies everywhere: from half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise, no fish may be kept or transported, and animal baits are prohibited.
