It suits river anglers more than lake anglers, and it is one of the calmest parts of central France. The prefectural order in force opens carp fishing at any hour on around two dozen designated stretches, most of them on the river Creuse — the Chambon lake to the Éguzon dam, the Roche bat l'Aigue and Roche au Moine reservoirs, and the valley through Argenton-sur-Creuse, Saint-Gaultier, Le Blanc, Pouligny-Saint-Pierre, Sauzelles and Tournon-Saint-Martin. The Indre at Châteauroux, Buzançais and Palluau, the Cher at Chabris, the Arnon, the Fouzon, the Anglin and the Claise add more, and Saint-Genou lake runs booked swims in catch-and-release. Check the calendar carefully: some stretches open only from the 16th to the end of each month, and two have their own seasonal windows. Bank fishing only, plant baits at night, and no carp kept or moved during the night hours.
